the dragon queen

with eyes of glowing ember
and hide of emerald green
with poised yet powerful stature
she is the dragon queen

crystal clawed and golden winged
how many have fallen to their death?
kings and knights and bards and fools
all perish in her fiery breath

obliterated in the pursuit of her immortal heart
that once consumed, is fabled to give
immunity to Death himself and all manner of harm
for as long as there is life left to live


O goddess of the skies
all of heaven and earth; her domain
and all life, great and small, she rules
even the waters and terrain

she is the dragon queen
and last of her magnificent kind
the last mistress and proud heir
of the magical ancient bloodline

she will never falter in her pride and strength
though her body be riddled with scars
and her legend will never fade
even after the death of all stars
