icarus' curse

icarus, icarus
i emphasize you
soaring above the skies
too close you flew

to holy Mother star
bright and life-giving
she captivated you whole
burning and scorching

and when you fell
plummeting to the ground
both love and life lost
so sudden without a sound

icarus, icarus
our fates are alike
for i too have a sun
who gives my heart flight

and like a moth to flames
i am hopelessly drawn to him
and will eagerly throw away life
just to fulfill his whim

fluorescent angels

what can you find
in a world of fluorescent angels
where saints and love
can be found in brothels?

i drink to the ghost of Blake
and i raise my glass to Death
the Devil bought my soul today
for the heat of your breath

don't waste your heart on
sincere prayers for a better day
cause the gods will only laugh
for your sorrow is their play

but you knew this painful truth
you have always did
but i say "nothing can't be fixed
with a glass of honey mead"

i swore that should i dream
i would dream like a god
i judge not sinners nor saints
let karma separate truth from fraud

but know this, all that i've bled and cried
i have only wanted to be
the one who remains through the tide
of time, engraved in your memory

time

i woke up falling into the sky
chasing after the sands of time
always just beyond my grasp
the cruel unjustifiable crime

and i saw the horizon devour the sun
and it dyed the world in an orange glow
and i suddenly knew a heartache
i never thought i would know

and i continued to fall into infinity
and broke this body on cold hard sanity
and all my pieces scattered in the wind
like the vermilion petals of a wilting peony

still i chased the priceless sands of time
though blue flames bound my aching heart
and how i grasped on tightly to the moments
whilst my very soul doth depart

swept up by Zephyrus' sweet breath
and bursting into golden blue fire
i, with a heavy sigh, exhaled my last
and drowned in my own desire
